Privacy policy
Last updated 17 October 2026
The short version: your CV stays on your device. An account is optional, and we do not receive the CV you build or the files you upload.
What we collect
We do not collect your CV. Everything you type into the builder, the cover letter tool or the CV checker is processed in your browser. You do not need an account to use the tools.
What is saved on your device
To make the tools work, CV11 saves a few things in your browser's local storage:
- your CV and cover letter drafts, so they are still there when you come back
- your light or dark mode choice
- the fastest time you have built a CV, for the summary after you download
This stays on the phone or computer you used. It is not sent to us. Clearing your browser data, or choosing New CV in the builder, removes it. If you use a shared computer, download your CV and clear it before you leave.
Files you upload
When you upload a PDF or Word file to import a CV or to check it, the file is read by your browser. It is never uploaded to CV11.
Voice typing
The "Say it, we'll write it" feature uses the speech recognition built into your browser. In browsers such as Chrome and Edge, that means your browser may send your voice to the browser company's own speech service to turn it into text. That is handled by them under their privacy policy, not by CV11. If you do not want this, type instead of speaking.
AI suggestions
Some tools have an optional "Improve with AI" or "Check what we heard" button. It works only when you tap it, and it needs a CV11 account so we can count your free daily tries. When you tap it, only the text in that box, such as one bullet point, a project description, your summary or what you said in the voice box, plus the job title, course or skills listed next to it, is sent securely through CV11 to Google's Gemini AI, which writes the suggestion. We do not send your name, phone number, email address or the rest of your CV, and we do not store the text or the suggestion.
We currently use Google's free service. Under Google's terms for it, Google may keep what is sent and use it to improve its products, and people at Google may review it. Do not put private details such as ID numbers, passwords or health information into a box before tapping the AI button. You will be asked to agree the first time you use it, and you can ignore the button completely; every tool works without it.
We keep a simple count of how many AI requests each account makes per day, to apply the daily limit. The count holds no CV content.
Payments
When you pay to download a CV, you are sent to Paystack, which takes your mobile money or card payment under its own privacy policy. CV11 never sees your card number or mobile money PIN. We keep a record of the payment: your account, a random code for the CV you paid for, the amount, the Paystack reference and the time. That record holds none of the CV's content. We use it to open your downloads and to sort out any problem with a payment.
Cookies and tracking
CV11 does not use advertising cookies and does not sell or share personal data. We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous usage statistics, such as which pages are visited and how many CVs are downloaded. It does not use cookies and never receives what you write in your CV or letters. We also keep our own simple counter of events such as a first visit, a CV started and a CV downloaded, each tied to a random code stored in your browser. It holds no name, email or CV content, and it is how we know how many students use CV11.
Your choices
- Delete your saved CV any time with New CV in the builder, or by clearing your browser's site data.
- Use the tools without voice typing if you prefer.
Changes to this policy
If we change how CV11 handles data, for example by adding accounts, we will update this page and show the new date at the top.
